US sailor in Okinawa arrested for drunk driving during “mourning” period

The US Navy slapped a drinking ban on its personnel stationed in Japan on Monday amid renewed anger over a drunk-driving case. A US sailor on the southern island of Okinawa was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving following a car crash, which injured two people. 18,600 US sailors stationed throughout the country are banned from drinking, both on and off base, for an undetermined period.
