US says air strikes have forced ISIL to halve fighters’ pay

A senior US official said on Monday that the Islamic State militant group was forced to cut fighters’ pay by up to 50 percent, as US-led air strikes have had a substantial impact on its income from oil. US Treasury Department assistant secretary on terrorist financing Daniel Glaser said the Islamic State still had a lot of money, but cutting its income stream would hamper its efforts.
