US shootings reignite debate over Confederate flag

The shooting of nine black churchgoers in Charleston this week has revived demands that South Carolina stop flying the Confederate flag on the state house grounds. It is an issue that still divides residents of a state haunted by its own legacy of slavery. The flag carries a lot of historical significance in the US and many say it’s time to bring it down.
