The Pentagon went public with its 2018 Nuclear Posture Review, which seeks to strengthen America’s nuclear deterrent with low-yield atomic bombs. China was mentioned in the paper as an “uncertain international security environment” along with Russia, Iran and the DPRK. The report did not sit well with China and Russia, which are worried by nuclear proliferation. Could the US’ posture trigger a new arms race?
