US urged to reimburse Philippines for the legal fees over South China Sea arbitration case

A Filipino columnist has said the United States should reimburse the Philippines for the legal fees and expenses incurred in filing the South China Sea arbitration case against China. Rigoberto Tiglao, a columnist for The Manila Times, said “he was informed” that around 30 million US dollars were spent in hiring international lawyers and staff to prepare the case. He also noted that the US doesn’t have claims in the area, and hasn’t even ratified the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
