US vice president says Washington open to talks with the DPRK

US Vice President Mike Pence has raised the prospect of holding direct talks with the DPRK. In a Washington Post interview published on Sunday, Pence said the US would keep what he called a “maximum pressure campaign” on Pyongyang but would be open to talks. This comes after Pence was reported to have said he had reached a new understanding with the S. Korean president, who has been pushing for a diplomatic solution to the DPRK issue.
