#VVIPFeast: 88% subsidised rates for MPs. Why? | For Avg Rs. 14 and For MPs Rs. 2

An RTI reply has revealed that Parliament canteens serving to Members of Parliament got a total subsidy of ₹60.7 crore during last five years with items like ‘puri sabji’ being sold at 88% subsidised rates. TIMES NOW’s ground report from Jammu and Kashmir reveals that a non-vegetarian ‘thaali’ sold at a local restaurant in Jammu costs ₹ 180, whereas the same item is sold at ₹ 33 in the Parliament canteen. Similarly, a chapatti at the restaurant costs more than Rs. 10, while at the Parliament canteen it’s sold at ₹1. Sources have also said that not just the Parliamentarians, the Jammu and Kashmir MLAs also enjoy the same privileges of consuming the subsidised food.
