Wartime sex slavery: Japanese associations says issue far from settled

A group of Japanese historians and educators have called for a fundamental resolution of the issues relating to the Japanese military’s use of sex slaves during WWII. Fifteen associations released a joint statement condemning a deal reached between Japan and South Korea last December. Under the deal, Japan pledged to pay about 8.3 million US dollars to launch a new foundation for sex slaves. And the two sides agreed to “refrain from accusing or criticizing each other” over the issue.
