China launched the 23rd satellite of its BeiDou Navigation Satellite System on Sunday evening from Xichang, in southwest China’s Sichuan Province. The satellite was put into orbit by a Long March-3C carrier rocket. BeiDou is being developed as an alternative to GPS, which was developed by the US.
