The public open-air test of Hyperloop One was conducted on Wednesday in the Nevada desert. A skeletal metal accelerated at a speed of 116 miles per hour in 1.1 seconds on a third of a mile-long straight test track. Hyperloop’s technology company claimed it could send people and cargo through tubes at the speed of sound. Hyperloop aims to move the first freight in 2019 and the first batch of passengers in 2021.
