Wuhan’s Tianhe Airport’s old control tower, an architectural landmark of the capital city of central China’s Hubei Province, was demolished in a controlled explosion on Sunday morning after standing for over 20 years.
The 51.5-meter-tall tower was made of reinforced concrete. In its place is a new control tower that has been in operation since August 8, and at 114.95 meters in height, it is the world’s second tallest just next to the 132-meter control tower in Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.
