A number of waterspouts were spotted on Qinghai Lake in northwest China’s Qinghai Province on Wednesday. The spectacular scene, which looked like dancing water fountains, lasted for about five minutes, as tourists captured them for eternity on their cellphones.
Waterspouts, caused by a convection of cold and warm air flows converging over the area, are usually referred to as tornadoes over water. In 2014, nine waterspouts were spotted on the lake within an hour.
