Today is China’s Mid-Autumn Festival, but frontier soldiers in the country’s Xinjiang Autonomous Region must still stand guard during the holiday. Here, splendid time-lapse photography shows the full moon lighting up the sky over a guard tower in China’s westernmost village, Simuhana. A soldier stands guard on the snowy plateau of the Pamir Mountains nearly 3,000 meters above sea level. The accompanying music clip is selected from “Moonlit Night”, the guzheng solo performance of a traditional Chinese music masterpiece.
