WHO declares no more Ebola transmission in West Africa

The World Health Organization on Thursday declared an end to the Ebola virus outbreak in West Africa, after no new cases emerged in Liberia. It was first declared free of the disease last May, but new cases emerged twice, forcing officials to restart the alert. The WHO reported that more than 28,600 people contracted Ebola and more than 11,000 died during the outbreak.
