Who will be the next United Nations Secretary-General?

United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon will step down from his position at the end of the year, after serving for a decade. The consensus on who will be the next Secretary-General is overwhelmingly towards former Portuguese Prime Minister, Antonio Guterres. Analysts were surprised by Guterres’ rise to the United Nation’s highest post, as there were high expectations that the organization would elect a female Secretary-General for the first time. Ban Ki-moon has given his stamp of approval, but is this the right choice, or a popular one? Discussing this are Wang Yiwei from Renmin University and Joav Toker from the American Graduate School in Paris.
