China trade guru Dr Zhang Jianping, director of the research centre under the Commerce Ministry, says that this is an “overreaction from the Western world”.

He points out to Conversation With’s Lin Xueling that while Huawei has a good relationship with the local government, its performance in the market is appreciated in more than 150 countries due to new technologies and innovation.

He also explains what it would take to break the monopoly phenomenon in the future with regards to foreign companies in the Chinese market, as China opens up at its own pace.
