Wild panda spotted in SW China forest

A wild giant panda was spotted in a forest in Baoxing county, southwest China’s Sichuan Province last weekend.

It’s the fourth time that giant pandas have been spotted in the region within a year.

Giant pandas are one of the world’s most endangered species. About 1,600 live in the wild, mostly in the mountains of Sichuan, while more than 300 live in captivity.

Sichuan is home to around 74 percent of wild giant pandas in China.
