The Congress party has threatened to corner the government in the Parliament over the ‘secret’ meeting between the Indian National Security Advisor (NSA) and his Pakistani counterpart in Bangkok, and has reportedly termed the meet as “betrayal”. The surprise breakthrough meeting, held at a “neutral event” on Sunday, has taken a political storm in India.

The nearly four-hour long discussion between Indian NSA Ajit Doval and Pakistan NSA Gen (Retd.) Nasir Khan Janjua covered issues of “peace and security, terrorism, Jammu and Kashmir, and other issues, including tranquillity along the LoC,” according to the joint press release. Interestingly, an announcement on External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s visit to Islamabad is likely to be made soon.
