A woman posed as a nurse to try and steal a newborn from its family, but failed after she ran into the baby’s grandmother. The incident occurred on November 25 at a hospital in the city of Suining in southwest China’s Sichuan Province. After the woman, Su, took the newborn out of its baby carriage from a ward, she happened to run into the grandmother, Liu, who recognized the baby’s blanket at first glance. However, Liu left at first because Su told her that her grandson was selected for a check-up, but soon she felt a bad feeling and caught up with Su to take back the baby carriage at the elevator and called the security guard. Su has been detained by the police on suspicion of trafficking in women and children.
