Women Can Now Enter All Temples In Maharashtra | Right To Pray

Temples in Maharashtra can no longer cite centuries-old traditions to ban the entry of women. The Bombay High Court ruled today that offering prayers at a temple “is the fundamental right of a woman and the government’s fundamental duty to protect their (women) right.”

The Bombay High Court today directed Maharashtra government to take pro-active steps for ensuringcompliance of law to prevent discrimination against women on entry to places of worship, saying “it is the fundamentalright of a woman” and the government should protect it. The Maharashtra government assured the High Court that it is completely against gender discrimination and the provisions of Maharashtra Hindu Place of Worship (Entry Authorisation) Act shall be scrupulously implemented.
