Women in India demand equal access to temples

Hundreds of women rallied to demand equal access to the inner sanctum of a mosque in the western Indian city of Mumbai. The protest was held on Thursday against the Haji Ali Dargah, which barred women’s entry into its mausoleum in 2011. Some protesters say this is “male patriarchy”, not religion, while the mosque says the women’s demands are against Sharia law.
