World Humanitarian Summit called for halve the number of displaced civilians by 2030

The first UN-backed World Humanitarian Summit has started in Istanbul. Representatives from 175 countries, including over 60 heads of state and government, are participating in the two-day summit. It aims to consolidate international action to help those affected by conflicts and natural disasters. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon spoke during the opening ceremony. In terms of some 60 million people displaced around the world and at least 125 million in need of assistance, he called on participants to commit to halving the number of displaced civilians by 2030.
