The much-awaited “world’s highest and longest” glass-bottomed bridge will open to visitors this weekend in Zhangjiajie City, central China’s Hunan Province. The bridge was completed in last December and cost some 22.5 million yuan (3.4 million US dollars). It measures six meters wide, 430 meters long and stands some 300 meters above ground. Designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan, the bridge has allegedly already set world records for its architecture and construction. It is paved with 99 panes of three-layered transparent glass, and is able to load a maximum of 800 people at a time.
