Worldwide steel production dropped 2.8% in 2015

Global steel production slipped back after five years of constant rises, reflecting a global economic slowdown. That’s according to a report from the World Steel Association.Worldwide steel production dropped 2.8 percent last year to 1.62 billion tons. China, the world’s largest steel producer and consumer, produced 804 million metric tons. That’s down 2.3 percent from 2014, marking the first time of a decline in the nation’s steel output since 1981.
