Chinese President Xi Jinping has begun his state visit to Uzbekistan, where he will attend the 2016 leaders’ summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). On Tuesday, Xi released a signed article, calling for the opening up of a new chapter in China-Uzbekistan relations, and a comprehensive upgrade of cooperation under the SCO framework. During his four-day visit, Xi will meet with his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov. The two leaders will witness the signing of a series of agreements and attend a ceremony to celebrate the completion of a number of collaborative projects.
