A power transmission line linking the south and north of Xinjiang in China’s northwest has just been completed. It’s the first time for an extra-high voltage power transmission line to pass through a glacial area, Tian Shan mountains, to send surplus power from Xinjiang’s north directly to the south. The entire 750-kilovolt power line is about 350 kilometers and cost some 300 million US dollars.
