The DPRK has fired a total of five short-range projectiles into its eastern waters, in what is being seen as a show of force in response to the ongoing US-South Korea military exercises. An official at South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff has said that four projectiles were launched from the DPRK’s northeastern region in South Hamgyong province, for 22 minutes through 3:41 pm local time. South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reports that one more projectile was launched later. This comes just days after the DPRK test-fired two medium-range missiles in defiance of UN sanctions.
