A touching scene occurred at a Chinese Super League game last Sunday, as Shijiazhuang Ever Bright arranged a special ceremony for a young fan with brain cancer after a game against Beijing Guoan.
Eight-year-old boy Wu Yuxuan, known as Xuan Xuan, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in 2015. But on Sunday he had a wide smile on his face, as he was carried around the stadium in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province by his soccer heroes and cheered on by 30,000 fans.
Xuan Xuan made a wish to watch Shijiazhuang Ever Bright play a match before his birthday on April 30. His father then emailed the club for tickets and Xuan Xuan was invited to watch Ever Bright’s match against Beijing Guoan, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Xuanxuan has undergone a craniotomy as well as many radiation and nuclear magnetic resonance treatments. But he has never given up physical exercises, which have helped him recover motor function and maintain a positive mindset.
