WHO recommends practising safer sex or abstinence for a period of 6 months after visiting Zika-hit areas. Four out of five Zika patients show no symptoms. The agency’s move is meant to protect women, most especially pregnant ones. Infected pregnant women face a higher risk of having a baby with head and brain defects called microcephaly.
