First batch of Certis auxiliary police K-9 sniffer dogs certified for deployment

Five sniffer dogs from security firm Certis are ready for deployment. The top dogs, brought in
from overseas, are now certified to find explosive devices. They have been deemed to be
mission-ready by the Singapore Police Force. Certis said it can take as fast as three to four
months to train some of them, and only certain breeds are chosen. The dogs take five to seven
minutes to sniff out suspicious devices on a car, while it takes humans 15 to 20 minutes to do so.
