Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry Chee Hong Tat said 8,000 jobs were added to the conventions and exhibitions industry in 2018, despite an uncertain economic climate and intense regional competition. He said the Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions and Exhibitions, (MICE) industry generated S$3.8 billion, or 0.8% of Singapore’s GDP. The growth was brought by the use of technology as the industry embarks on its digital transformation journey. Mr Chee added that the industry has enabled Singapore to further solidify itself as a global business hub to attract more investments.
