Motorcyclist gets award for helping police officers subdue hammer-wielding man

The police force has given a public spiritedness award to a motorcyclist who helped tackle a hammer-wielding man on the road. Khairil Anwar Tahir was riding along Bedok North Road on Nov 27 when he saw the man hitting passing vehicles with a hammer. He pulled over and called the police. He also leapt into action,
helping to subdue and arrest the man.
The 66-year-old suspect is believed to be of unsound mind.
The police also praised Mr Khairil for his courage and civic duty.
